The Premise of Astrological Theory

by Xia Neifion~Clark

An Astrological chart is created from a point of intersection between time and place. Consider that planetary positions are calculated as a function of time, capturing the unique moment like a snapshot of the celestial sphere, while the aims of the directional cross and the segmentation of the Astrological Houses are entirely dependent on place.

When this point of intersection is an individual, we study the chart to discover more about the individual. The planets reflect the psychology of the soul - the sensory vessel and vehicles of experience chosen to navigate this life. The Astrological Signs and the Houses that the planets are in, together reflect both the condition of each component vessel and the realm of consciousness in which it is operational.

But this point of intersection can be anything. A chart can be rendered for the time and place of an event to demonstrate even the deepest undercurrents which composed it. And in Horary Astrology, charts are done for the moment a question is asked to discern the answer.

Why does this work? The applicable Mystic Tradition is "all birth into Nature occurs through the crossing of opposites" - that being here, time and place. A unique moment is born through them, and it is something that can be studied and understood. Something which perfectly reflects all things which likewise came forward in that one same instant intersection.

Why does this work? Taking the same question in another direction - it is necessary to understand that a core idea of Astrological Theory is that the celestial bodies are living organisms which energetically or, more accurately, electromagnetically influence one another even as they influence us. This is correspondent to the electromagnetic relationships we exert on - and receive from - one another, at a much greater octave of existence.

Consider that it is already easily apparent that the evident conditions of a time and place influence the gamut of experience there (i.e. weather, geology, cultural development, etc.). Astrological Theory merely furthers this to suggest that non-apparent, unseen conditions are also at work, and these are also observable, not through the naked eye, but through the precise calculations of Astrological Sciences.
